BEDROOM

  1. UNDERBED STORAGE: The ideal place to store your spare blankets and fluffy slippers! Under-bed storage is great for sliding in and out from under your bed; a space that is very often overlooked as something that can be utilized. Having a couple of large fitted boxes or drawers underneath will allow you to keep all your treasures safe and dust free while you’re not using them. This reclaimed wood drawer keeps to the theme of sustainability – interior design with a conscience!
  1. ORGANIZED WARDROBES: Who doesn’t dream of owning a wardrobe that's immaculate? Color coordinated and organized down to every bootie, having a clear and precise space in your wardrobe really will create the illusion of so much space – and keep your room tidy! Often you’ll find that when items have a special place, it’s hard to not put them back in it, thus eradicating the desire to chuck your jumpers over one shoulder onto the floor!

If you’re lucky enough to have a big freeing space in your bedroom, then opt for a built-in wardrobe with sliding mirrored doors (this double up will give you more wall/floor space if it means you don’t have to purchase a separate stand alone mirror). If your room is smaller, modify the wardrobe you have by building in extra shelves and slotting in baskets.

KITCHEN

  1. UTILIZE EXTRA CUPBOARD SPACE: One of life’s simplest yet most effective storage hacks, is adapting the space you have that generally goes unconsidered. Under the kitchen sink is where most people store their cleaning products, and with all the piping it can be a bit of a jungle in there and spray bottles get lost and lodged in strange places. Take some plastic tension rods and create hanging spaces for your bottles and cloths!

Similarly, use baskets and shelving on the inside of cupboard doors to store lightweight items such as foils, chopping boards and sponges.

  1. NO MATTER HOW SMALL THE SPACE, USE IT: Even if it’s an awkward corner or thin slice of a slot – you’ll be able to make use of it somehow. Consider those thinner items that you can get into smaller spaces; mops, brooms, brushes, spices, utensils etc. Spice racks are a brilliant way to separate your Rosemary from your Thyme while narrowing the slimmest of spaces!
  1. USE BOTH SIDES OF SHELVES: Put your pretties on top and hang your utensils from the bottom! Grab some nails, baskets, rails and hooks and design your own under-shelf storage!

BATHROOM

  1. ABOVE THE DOORS: A genius way of storing towels and toiletries is to create shelving above the door – and of course add hooks or racks onto the inside of the door too!
  1. SNEAK IN SHELVING: Add it in even in areas you wouldn’t have considered needing before! Put a little shelf above your toilet roll to keep sprays or scented candles, slot shelving in behind your toilet lid for ornaments, use multiple shelving next to your mirrors for your toiletries and beauty products etc. Not only will it clear your cupboards but you can create lovely displays on them too!
  1. MASON JARS: Mason JarsDIY hacks are multipurpose. The many uses and looks these easy to get pieces can bring to your home seem endless. One of my favorite uses of them is to store beauty products! Brushes, cotton wool, liners, q-tips and bottles etc. – take inspiration from this DIY trick of attaching the lovely jars onto a plaque of wood to create shelving units designed by you!

LIVING AREA

  1. USE UNEXPECTED SPACES: Using your stairwell to feature hidden shelving is a great and unpredictable way to gain extra display space. Ideal for housing your library of books, the small shelving you can fit behind and under your staircase will amaze guests! Take it a step further by adding in a couple of squishy seats and pillows to create a little reading nook for your leisure!
  1. TIDY SECRETS: To keep everything looking clean, tidy and organized, create secret cupboards and drawers to give the illusion that you live in a minimalist space – when really, all your belongings are safely tucked away behind hidden doors! This works especially well for your TV unit where it’ll help hide all your wires, remotes and DVDs.
